Samedi Coup de cœur d’Albert Moxhet

L’Espace 72 à Mont-Dison est un endroit particulier où Alain Mignon, l’animateur, propose généralement des œuvres qui sortent des schémas classiques d’expositions d’art. Il a eu cette fois véritablement la main heureuse en invitant l’artiste chinoise/belge Shanglie Zhou à créer une installation dans sa galerie.

Dans une pénombre propice, Shanglie Zhou entraîne le regard et la sensibilité du visiteur dans ses Weaving Waves, des « vagues tisseuses », un ensemble qu’elle a créé spécialement pour cette exposition après un séjour dans la région au cours duquel elle s’est imbibée d’éléments locaux caractéristiques.

Sur un fond sonore de métier à tisser, au centre du dispositif, un lit de pierres de Vesdre truffé de fragments de miroir éclabousse de reflets lumineux les bandes et pièces tissées qui descendent du plafond. Toutes ces bandes portent des inscriptions tantôt en anglais, tantôt en chinois, on en trouve une profusion couvrant le sol de leurs ondulations autour du lit de pierres.

Les pièces tissées sont formées de telles bandes entrecroisées où alternent les deux types de caractères. On y discerne les mots qui concentrent l’attention du visiteur sur la portée essentielle de cette installation : tissage, pierres, vagues, destinée, rêve. Comment ne pas rêver dans un pareil lit ?

Cette exposition est ouverte à l’Espace 72, rue de Mont, 72, à Mont-Dison jusqu’au 11 juillet, les week-ends, de 14 à 19h.

Saturday Infatuation

Espace 72 in Dison is a special place, where owner Alain Mignon usually offers shows out of the traditional patterns of art exhibitions. 

This time he drew a truly lucky hand by inviting the chinese/belgian artist Shanglie Zhou to create an installation in the gallery.

In a darkened environment Shanglie Zhou leads the eye and the sensitivity of the visitor into “Weaving Waves”, an installation she created especially for this exhibition after a sojourn in the region, soaking up local historical elements and characteristics.



In the background the sound of a loom, at the center of the room a bed of stones, on which pieces of broken mirrors scatter video-fragments of the river Vesdre against the walls and on banners of woven paper-bands descending from the ceiling. These bands bear inscriptions in English and Chinese, and we find a profusion covering the ground with their undulations around the bed of stones.

The woven pieces are also made of such crossed bands of alternating two types of characters. It displays the words that focus the attention of visitors on the essential scope of this installation: weaving, stones, waves, destiny, dream. How not to dream in such a bed?

The exhibition is open in Espace 72, rue de Mont, 72, Dison until July 11, weekends from 14 to 19h.
